The traditional techniques of lacquerware are passed down through generations using resinous sap tapped from a lacquer tree. The designs are intricately engraved before finally applying gold leaf in a slow seven-step process of drying the layers and reapplying. Each piece is a unique work of art that has taken weeks to complete.
