This exquisite Thai Mandala Flower Lacquerware keepsake box was handmade in Chiang Mai, Thailand by the skilled artisans of Barn Kern village.  It is the first one they've made with a functional brass swing lock closure. Beautiful, unique & one of a kind. 

Their traditional techniques passed down through generations use resinous sap tapped from a lacquer tree, and then the designs are intricately engraved before finally applying gold leaf in a slow 7-step process of drying the layers and reapplying.  Each piece is a unique work of art that has taken weeks to complete. 

This lovely flower design box is the perfect size to hold jewelry, glasses, pens and other treasures. It will be a decorative piece you'll enjoy while helping preserve the handmade culture of Thailand.
