This exquisite Thai Elephant gold leafed lacquerware keepsake box was handmade in Chiang Mai, Thailand by the skilled artisans of Barn Kern village. 

Their craft uses traditional techniques passed down through generations using resinous sap tapped from a lacquer tree; and then their designs are intricately engraved before finally applying gold leaf in a slow 7 step process of drying the layers.  Each piece is a unique work of art that has taken weeks to complete.
